You skin is only as old as it feels.

July 16, 2014
Our skin has two types of lines; the first type are wrinkles; these are usually inherited from a long link of genes handed down from one generation to another. If you look like your mum, your dad, your aunty or your grandmother you will notice your inherited facial structure as you age. You will notice wrinkles growing deeper and defining your character and your individual looks. These wrinkles are determined by the movements or contractions of muscles below the skin. At the same time the collagen and elastin fibers which give your skin its firmness and resistence to aging undergo chemical changes which cause them to lose their elasticity, consequently the skin loses it suppleness and tone and the skin obeys the laws of gravity. Don't fight these wrinkles, they are your lifes journey, they are the special moments when you laughed and cried, the good times and the bad times and contribute to the confidence and the wisdom you have now.

The second sign of aging are the fine superficial lines around the eyes, mouth and across the skins surface. These fine lines may be a product of early and on going negligence. One of the great enemies of agin is the sun. When we are young our bodies and skin appear firm and unblemished, we bask in rays of damaging aging UV chasing the ultimate tan. The tan that makes you look fresh and healthy in youth, is the same tan that makes you look aged, with a tired dry skin later in life. Unfortunately, in most of us the damage does not show until many years later.

Winter is an equally important time to moisturise and look after your skin. The air is very dry in winter and you will often notice your lips will be dry and your skin can feel tight and it lacks of its natural glow. As the skin surface dehydrates, fine lines become more visable and the skin can feel rough to touch and appears dull and flaky becoming irritated and itchy, often referred to as 'The Winter Itch' common to the arms and legs. With continuous rubbing and scratching the skin becomes thickened, rough and potentially cracked, which can result in dermatitis, becoming red, flaky and scaly. Exzema may also appear. When there is not enough water to moisten the skin for it to function properly it becomes dry allowing the protective oils to be lost. Other major contributors are artificial heat, detergent based products and harsh outside conditions.

There are ways to make your skin moist to keep it healthy and retard the appearence of fine lines:

Only use gentle, quality products. It is very important to pamper your skin and allow it to balance and be naturally healthy. Exfoliating is excellent for removing dry dead cells and stimulating fresh healthy skin, increasing its strength, reducing superficial wrinkles, stimulating blood flow and reducing redness.

Take good care of your skin:

Use a gentle cleanser to keep the skin soft and supple.
Always use a day cream to aid the skins protection and maintain water in the skin cells.
One of the most important creams in your dail regime is your night cream. While you sleep the skin is warm and relaxed and these creams have the opportunity to nourish and moisturise.
Dont forget your eye cream for that special treatment to reduce tell tale lines and puffiness.

"Pamper yourself tonight"

First create a pampering atmosphere by preparing warm fresh soft towels. Run a nice warm relaxing bath. Before you slip into the bath, cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. An option you may choose is a natural Manuka Honey Mask. The rich Manuka Honey will hydrate and nourish and your skin will benefit more when it is warm and relaxed. Allow the honey to rejuvenate and re invent a more youthful looking you. After 15 minutes, massage the honey with water and rinse off. As an alternative, CResults Manuka Honey Makeover Mask with 20% Organic Manuka Honey was designed to offer the same benefits of a natural Manuka Honey mask without the sticky and often messy cleanup, it also does not require to be washed off and can be left on overnight for a longer treatment. Finish your bath and slip into your warm towels. Now apply night moisturisers to continue your facial treat. Don't forget your eye cream, to penetrate the delicate tissue and retard the aging lines and dark circles around your eyes. Now off to bed for a stress free sleep, tomorrow you will wake up to a more beautiful you. Good Night, sweet dreams.
